Covid-19 pandemic important information

We are now re-starting our screening programme.

Important Information - we are changing the way we invite you for your routine screening appointments.

We will now be sending out a letter inviting you to call to book your appointments rather than sending out a timed appointment to you.

We hope that you will find this helpful and we will endeavour to make an appointment at the most convenient time or location for you, although the location will be dependent on where our mobile units are situated in the county at that time.

When the letter arrives we encourage you to try to make your appointment as soon as you can, especially in the more remote areas of the county as the units are likely to only be in your area for a limited time and they will need to move on. However we will always be able to offer you an appointment at our main unit in Poole and we have daytime, evening and Saturday appointments available here.

Regrettably, some of our previous mobile sites may be unavailable due to Covid-19 restrictions. You may be offered an appointment at the nearest alternative location or at our static site at Poole Hospital. This is a temporary measure to ensure that you are offered an appointment as soon as possible.

In line with Public Health England, Government  and Infection Control guidelines, we have made changes to our screening practices in order to comply with the extra PPE and cleaning requirements now in place so that we ensure we keep our patients and staff safe. You may be asked to wait outside our mobile units for a short time so that we can maintain social distancing as we are currently unable to use our waiting areas for additional seating.

To help us provide the best care for our patients and to protect patients and staff, please note the following restrictions:

  • Do not attend your appointment if you or anyone in your household is unwell with a new or continuous cough or temperature above 37.8C. (Please return home and follow the national advice available at NHS 111 online at http://www.111.nhs.uk/) before contacting us using the details on your letter)
  • Do not attend if you are awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test
  • Do not attend if you are shielding
  • Do not attend if you are self-isolating
  • Attend at your appointment time (If you arrive early you will be asked to wait outside)
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Atend alone (unless you need a carer to assist you)
  • Use alcohol gel on hands when entering and leaving our units
  • Please bring your own face covering to the appointment

Due to the pandemic, self-referrals for ladies aged 71 and over for a routine mammogram will not be available. Ladies are advised to contact their GP should they notice any breast symptoms. For more information see Over 71 Self Referrals

If ladies do not arrive for their appointment they will not automatically be offered a second appointment. Ladies will now be offered the opportunity to contact us to arrange a second appointment should they wish to do so.
