Pre-Operative Assessment Unit
Patients due to be admitted for planned (elective) surgery, attend a pre-operative assessment appointment prior to admission. Patients are seen by medical and nursing staff and have the opportunity to discuss their planned care during their hospital stay. A patient's fitness for surgery and anaesthesia will be assessed and appropriate tests and investigations performed.
