Research and innovation at Poole

Poole Hospital is committed to research, development and innovation. Poole Hospital NHS FT is participating in essential national and international research studies for COVID 19

You may see research staff in your ward/department, visiting and assessing patients.

The studies are:-

  • RECOVERY: RANDOMISED EVALUATION OF COVID-19 THERAPY (starting in Critical Care, later other wards). Randomised trial among adults hospitalised for confirmed COVID-19. Eligible patients are randomly allocated between several treatment arms, each to be given in addition to the usual standard of care in the participating hospital.
  • ISARIC/WHO-CCP UK: ISARIC/WHO Clinical Characterisation Protocol for Severe Emerging Infections in the UK. Data collection for confirmed COVID-19 patients.
  • REMAP-CAP (Critical Care only): REMAP-CAP: Randomized, Embedded, Multifactorial Adaptive Platform trial for Community-Acquired Pneumonia.
  • UKOSS (Maternity only): UKOSS: Pandemic Influenza in Pregnancy
