Dr Critoph trained in Cardiology in London at the Heart Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital, the largest specialist cardiac centres of their kind in Europe, developing sub-specialty interests in heart failure, inherited cardiac disease and complex devices. He won a British Heart Foundation clinical research fellowship in 2010, studying patients with inherited heart disease. This led to the award of a MD (Res) degree from University College London. He undertook a year-long fellowship in advanced heart failure, mechanical support and cardiac transplantation at the Royal Perth Hospital, Australia. He was appointed as a consultant cardiologist and clinical lead for heart failure at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in 2015.
