About Dr Ioannis Katsimilis
Training and education
He qualified from Semmelweis University in Budapest in 1997. Following compulsory posting as a Military Doctor in the Greek Army, he entered the Radiology training scheme in 2000, at Areteion University Hospital and Tzaneion General Hospital in Athens, obtaining his CCT in 2006.
He then worked as a General Cross-sectional Consultant Radiologist at Euroclinic of Athens General Private Hospital (9/2006-4/2014).
Post CCT Clinical Fellowship
Moving to the UK, he then undertook an 18 month post CCT fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology (5/2014-10/2015) at the University Hospital Southampton.
Experience
Dr. Katsimilis joined the Trust as a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology, in November 2015.
He reports all types of musculoskeletal scans (X-ray, US, CT, MRI), covering musculoskeletal trauma, bone and soft tissue injuries, sports related injuries and spinal trauma. He also covers reporting and assessment of a wide spectrum of non-traumatic musculoskeletal conditions, such as musculoskeletal infection, bone and soft tissue tumors, degenerative musculoskeletal disease and rheumatological diseases.
He is skilled in performing a large spectrum of musculoskeletal image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures.
He is contributed to teaching, scientific presentations and audits regarding his specialty.
