General Medicine
I trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School and undertook all my junior training in London. After MRCP I spent 3 years as a nephrology Spr and then palliative care for 2 years before settling into Diabetes and endocrinology in Wessex. After completing my training I completed a fellowship in advanced diabetes technologies at University of Toronto. I was offered a substantive consultant post in Bournemouth in 2013. I have been clinical lead there and lead for the Acute Kidney Injury service since that time.
What people can be referred for
Type 1 diabetes, Insulin pump therapy, renal diabetes, young persons' clinic
Why I chose my specialties
I enjoy the complexity of type 1 diabetes and the interplay between physical and psychological factors which influence how someone is able to manage it. The longevity of the condition allows me to build a rapport and relationship with the people I meet and support them through the changes in life associated with diabetes.
