Norovirus guidance
Norovirus, or the 'winter vomiting bug', is a common illness that can be rapidly spread. It causes diarrhoea and vomiting, which can be dangerous, particularly for our older patients as it can lead to dehydration. For more information and advice , head here.
Please help us to do all we can to prevent the spread of infection in our hospitals:
- If you are visiting a patient, please wash your hands with soap and water on the ward before and after visiting the patient.
- Please do not visit our hospitals if you have had any symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting within the last 48 hours, or been in contact with someone with these symptoms in the last 48 hours.
Sometimes the presence of norovirus or other infectious illnesses like Covid-19 means we may have to temporarily stop visiting on specific wards. We are sorry for the inconvenience this causes, but patient safety is our priority. Before coming into the hospital please call the ward directly to find out about visiting times. If you do not know the ward number, phone our switchboard on 01202 303626.
