Dr Ciarán Dunne

Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr Ciarán Dunne graduated from University College Dublin in 1984 with an Honours Degree in Medicine. His intern year was at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin. He completed his General Medical Training in several hospitals in Cork.

He was appointed as a Senior Registrar in Rheumatology & Rehabilitation to the East Dorset Senior Registrar Training Scheme in 1991. Following this he was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist to the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 1996 and has been based at Christchurch Hospital since his appointment.

He is a member of the British Society for Rheumatology, British Medical Association and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He is registered with the General Medical Council.

Dr Dunne sees all rheumatic diseases in adults. He has a particular interest in Inflammatory Arthritis and Osteoporosis.

Throughout his career Dr Dunne has had interest in Medical Education at local (Associate Clinical Tutor at Christchurch Hospital), Regional (Wessex Deanery Educational Supervision) and National level having sat on the British Society for Rheumatology Education & Training Committee in the past.

He currently works on a part-time basis at University Hospitals Dorset Foundation Trust where he continues to see patients at Christchurch Hospital.
