Specialties: Inflammatory arthritis, Osteoporosis/metabolic bone diseases, Connective tissue diseases, Vasculitis, Polymyalgia, Rheumatica, Rheumatology
I attended medical school and completed my training in rheumatology in Milan (Italy), where I worked as a consultant rheumatologist for around 15 years before moving to the United Kingdom in 2016.
After 4 years as consultant rheumatologist at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust I joined the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS FT in July 2020.
Whilst I can manage any sort of rheumatic condition I have a special interest in inflammatory arthritis (and particularly in psoriatic arthritis and axial spondyloarthritis), and osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. I also have an interest in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasonography for diagnosing and monitoring patients with inflammatory arthritis and in 2018 I was granted by EFSUMB (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) the MSK ultrasound competency diploma in rheumatology.
During the course of my career I have developed an interest in clinical research and I have taken part in several clinical trials and observational studies in capacity of either Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator.
In addition, I have contributed to the publication of more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.
I am member of many clinical associations and scientific societies including the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR), British Psoriatic Arthritis Consortium (BritPACT), British Society for Spondyloarthritis (BritSpA), Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS), Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA), American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASMBR) and European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS).
