Dr Neil Hopkinson
Consultant Rheumatologist
Dr Hopkinson retired from full time Consultant Rheumatology practice in 2019 after 25 years' service, and now works as a part-time Consultant. His interests continue to be the management of more complex autoimmune diseases such as Lupus and vasculitis. He helps run the regular specialist clinics for these conditions in Christchurch hospital.
Dr Hopkinson sits on the Royal College of Physicians examining board and is responsible for the rheumatology questions in the national examinations of our future Consultants. He is also a Senior Clinical Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians.
In his spare time he enjoys language, sports and gardening.
What people can be referred for
All forms of arthritis, particularly inflammatory arthritis (such as Rheumatoid Arthritis). Inflammatory spine diseases. Connective Tissue Diseases and vasculitis. Osteoporosis.
