About Ms Schwab

Katie qualified from Imperial College, London, with Honours in Medicine and Surgery and an extra Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology, in 2003. Undertaking her higher surgical training in the London Deanery, South West Thames Region, she quickly became interested in Colorectal Surgery, Pelvic Floor surgery and Surgical Technology and its advances. She performed the UKs first clinical trial investigating the latest 3D keyhole-surgery technology as part of her MD research degree with the University of Surrey and the internationally renowned Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit, MATTU, Guildford.

Katie completed a specialist fellowship in advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, before taking up her Consultant position at The Royal Bournemouth in 2018. Since appointment, Katie has gone on to pursue further Robotic Training in Strasbourg, to allow her to begin robotic surgery for rectal cancer. Katie also has a keen interest in Pelvic Floor pathologies and works closely with colleagues in a multidisciplinary setting to offer patients the best holistic care for their symptoms. Katie offers surgical care for colorectal cancer patients, pelvic floor patients and all anorectal and colonic conditions as well as supporting the General Surgical Emergency take.
