About Dr Hignett

Dr Hignett graduated from Southampton Medical school in 2010, completing subsequent postgraduate training in the Wessex Deanery. She was appointed as a consultant in UHD in 2020 and undertakes regular clinical activities in both general paediatrics and paediatric allergy. She has a Master's degree in medical simulation and patient safety and supports 'Patient First' quality improvement initiatives across child heath.

Dr Hignett is an Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) course director and instructor, and has a keen interest in medical education and simulation, co-ordinating regular simulation opportunities across the trust. She is also a general paediatric representative on the Training Quality Board of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).
