About Dr Cumberbatch
Dr Cumberbatch trained at the University of the West Indies between 1983 and 1988.
Returning to the UK in 1990, he worked in a variety of senior house officer jobs in preparation for a career in emergency medicine. Having commenced higher training in EM in 1994 he worked as a specialist registrar in Poole and rotated to Salisbury and Southampton with a 6 month block in Australia.
Dr Cumberbatch has been a consultant in Poole Hospital since 1999 and is the trust lead for major trauma. As training programme director for emergency medicine higher trainees in Wessex since 2004, he helped develop the ACCS programme (training in acute care) and has had various roles including training program director (TPD) for the Wessex Higher training; TPD for the Wessex ACCS Program; Trauma Unit Lead and is currently clinical director for emergency services.
