About Mr Qureshi

Mr Qureshi is a Consultant Laparoscopic (key-hole) General Surgeon with an interest in Gastro-intestinal surgery. In recognition of his laparoscopic expertise, he was appointed by the Department of Health as a national trainer in 2010, as part of the LAPCO programme. He was tasked with helping to raise standards of Laparoscopic Surgery for bowel cancer in the UK. As one of the first UK surgeons trained in Robotic Colo-rectal Surgery, he introduced Robotic Surgery for bowel cancer to Dorset. His unit was subsequently appointed as a European Centre of Excellence, responsible for teaching and assessing other Robotic Surgeons in Europe and further afield. His expertise includes surgery for benign conditions such as hernias, which he performs regularly, as well diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Mr Qureshi has set up a successful Enhanced Recovery Programme, which was short-listed for the National Patient Safety Awards.
