A virtual education evening for University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is taking place on 23 June at 6pm.

The evening has been organised by the IBD nurses and the IBD patient panel and will include presentations from Dr Dharmasiri, IBD consultant and Claire Stuckey, dietician.

A wide range of topics will be discussed including: immunosuppressant therapies and the Covid vaccine, the IBD database and registry, the merger with Poole Hospital and the IBD team, smoking and Crohn’s disease, the IBD diet, probiotics and food to avoid for wind and bloating.

Event organizer, Hannah Dewhurst, said: “We are all excited to be running this annual meeting as a webinar for the second year running.  Patients in the past have found these events to be very informative.  These evenings are really important for patients to learn about their condition and how we are developing as a service and we look forward to welcoming those that attend every year and new patients too.”
