University Hospitals Dorset to host newly qualified nurses’ recruitment day

A recruitment event for newly qualified nurses is being held on Saturday 8 May with jobs being offered on the day.

The event is the first of its kind since Poole, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals came together last October, and is an opportunity for nurses to find out what it’s like to work for the new University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

Nurses who have recently qualified will also be on hand to talk to applicants about support and mentorship via the Trust’s preceptorship development programme and appraisal system.

Sue Davies, Directorate Matron for Surgery, said: “What a year this has been for the NHS with many of our student nurses being at the heart of the action. We’re really looking forward to welcoming newly qualified nurses to meet our teams and find out more about what it’s like to work in across our hospitals.

“We have vacancies in a number of areas, including acute medicine (the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit), stroke services, older person’s medicine, surgical speciality wards, emergency surgery, theatres and anaesthetics and cancer care, so there’s something for everyone.

“We’re really excited to show off what we have here so come along and help us make University Hospitals Dorset a great place to work.”

Those wishing to attend the day, which will be held in the Education Centre at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, should sign up at here. Lunch is provided.
