Poole hosts Sajid Javid

We were delighted to welcome Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, this month (17 February) as he visited the South West region to see how it's tackling the COVID backlog as part of his ‘Road to Recovery’ tour.

As part of his trip, he was able to see great partnership work in action at our outpatient assessment clinic at Beales department store in the Dolphin Centre, Poole. Colleagues were invited to talk about how the facility is playing as a vital part in tackling hospital waiting lists as well as increasing the volume of life-saving screening as part of Dorset’s Think Big initiative.

Commenting on his visit to the area, Sajid Javid said:

“It’s been a privilege to talk with people from Somerset to Dorset and see first-hand the innovative new approaches and technological breakthroughs that will underpin our recovery from COVID-19 and help tackle the COVID backlog currently facing our NHS and social care system.”

The visit garnered widespread media attention with Sajid Javid interviewed by both Andy Martin, regional associate editor, of the Bournemouth Echo and Steve Harris from BBC Radio Solent. Their interviews can be accessed here:
