Hospital café upgraded as part of Royal Bournemouth transformation

The transformation of the catering facilities at University Hospital Dorset’s continues with the opening of the refurbished atrium café on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site (07 March).

The revamped facility provides a range of hot and cold drinks alongside a seatrium cafe ribbon cutting 070323lection of snacks, with all profits reinvested in patient care.

Commenting at the official opening, Stuart Willes, UHD’s head of operations and facilities (pictured far left), said:

“The refurbishment of the atrium café  is part of a major transformation of our catering services - all designed to provide a range of modern, high-street standard retail facilities for patients, visitors and staff.”

“We’ve been delighted with the support on our reopening day – the team have been amazing, and it was a bonus to welcome Siobhan Harrington, our chief executive, to serve one of our first coffees."

The café has a new layout and menu, including a wide selection of gluten free and vegan products. Staff will soon be able to benefit from a fast-track lunch ‘grab and go` option designed to minimise pressure on front counter services.

As part of the masterplan for UHD’s new services there will be further transformation work going on in the hospital’s Oasis and Shelley restaurants over the next few months.
