New emergency calls

We have now replaced our emergency paging system across UHD. Please familiarise yourselves with the new call structure, which is now live. Laminated posters and ID badge cards have been distributed to wards. Click here to find out how the new system works, the numbers to call and our FAQs.

Protect yourself with on-site vaccinations

Weekday Covid-19 booster and flu vaccination appointments in our occupational health departments are now available to book. While this week's appointments are fully booked, new sessions for next week have now been added. If you can't find a slot to suit you, please keep checking as more sessions are being added on a rolling basis over the coming weeks.

The clinics will be offering the Pfizer bivalent Covid-19 booster. Weekday appointments run throughout November and can only be booked online - please do not contact our occupational health teams. Staff may choose to have either the Covid booster, the flu vaccination, or both.

Click here to book yours. For information on how to have your jabs elsewhere, and what to do if you have had your jabs elsewhere, check the occupational health pages of the intranet.

Wards should still keep charts up to date as part of good practice.

Change to the recording of IV fluid inputs

To improve the accuracy of our patients' fluid balance monitoring, and to support the implementation of our new eObs Digital Fluid Balance solution, the Nursing and Midwifery Forum has agreed to introduce the following changes to recording IV Fluid input:

  1. Record the volume (not rate) on the IV pumps
  2. Reset the pump to zero after doing so. This should be at least every four hours and when an IV bag is replaced

This change takes effect from today (1 November). All ward leads will be emailed with further details and a poster that can be printed off explaining how to undertake this new process.
