Launch of Dorset Research Hub

Finding a safe and effective vaccine for Covid-19 is vital to help stop the global pandemic. UHD is set to play its part in this search, with the opening of a Covid-19 vaccine trial at the new Dorset Research Hub located at RBH this week. Read more in tomorrow's all staff publication The Brief, available on our UHD intranet.

Have you rolled up? One in 10 has...

Just one week into our winter staff flu vaccination campaign, almost 10% of frontline staff (9.63%) across our hospitals have already had their jab. This year, it's more important than ever with Covid-19 still in circulation in the community. The jab not only protects individuals and their families, but ensures our hospitals remain fighting fit to meet the challenges that this winter may pose.

And if that wasn't incentive enough, everyone who has a jab through through our campaign before 4 December will be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £50 Amazon vouchers in time for Christmas.

You can find the very latest about the campaign, including an up-to-date list of peer vaccinators - clinical staff who have had special training to provide the jab to colleagues in their workplace - and how to find the flu trolley, on the intranet.

Staff at the RBH site are now only able to access their payslips electronically via ESR. If you don't have a login or have forgotten your password please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please note this does not apply to portering, housekeeping or catering members of staff or staff on long term absence.

Screensavers and emails

Please note the communications email, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. is now shared across all sites. When requesting a screensaver, please state whether it is specific to one site or applicable to all.

Please also ensure you have updated your email signature to the new UHD template. As part of this, please indicate if you are based on a particular site.

Migration of hospital telecom services

As part of our work to migrate our telecom services over to a digital platform, we will be migrating some of our existing phone numbers as detailed below. The numbers may be unavailable for up to 30 minutes between the specified times.

Tuesday 13 October – (6-10pm): 01202 486361 – Christchurch Hospital main number

The new hospital numbers beginning 0300 019 will be unaffected by these changes. The old numbers for Poole Hospital (01202 442xxx and 01202 448xxx) will be migrated at a later date to be advised nearer the time.

EPR issues

Appointment cancellations not removed from clinics tab in EPR (this issue is across all sites)

There is a known issue where cancelled appointments still appear in the clinics tab within EPR. A fix is being developed by the third party supplier Graphnet but please be aware the clinic list you see will also contain patients who have previously been cancelled.

EPR logging off (specific to RBH site)

Please be aware there is a known issue with Graphnet EPR logging out if you open a 'Poole Document' within eCaMIS clinical viewer component. Anything named 'Poole Document' in eCaMIS clinical viewer has been pulled from Graphnet EPR. If you use Graphnet EPR and clinical viewer simultaneously and need to view any Poole Documents please view them from Graphnet EPR to avoid this issue.

Acute pain service at RBH

Due to staff shortage within the team, we need to prioritise surgical patients so unfortunately, we cannot see the patients on medical wards at present. However, we are more than happy to accept referrals (via the online portal) and offer advice where possible. There is some guidance attached to the referral and more can be found on the acute pain service intranet page which may help with some basic advice.

Temporary changes to mandatory training records in ESR

As a result of the ESR system merger which is taking place later this month, you may start to notice some anomalies with the mandatory training requirements which are listed on your ESR record. For example, some topics appear twice with slightly different wording or you may see new topics which you haven't seen before.

This is because the Poole and RBCH education departments are still working through the differences between the two systems as part of alignment work and in preparation for the launch of the BEAT VLE system at Poole. This should not affect the training requirements which show in the current BEAT VLE for RBCH staff, it will only affect records which are accessed directly in ESR. During this time both Poole and RBCH monthly compliance reports will be unaffected.

The sessions will take place between 1.30-2.30pm on the below dates and you are welcome to bring lunch. You can also access this session via Teams by emailing the library team.

New WP collections in ICE – DO NOT USE

New sets of pathology tests and collections have recently been configured in ICE OrderComms. These tests have been configured to be used with a new pathology system coming in February/March 2021 and must not be used yet. All of these new collections will always start with 'WP' and end with 'DO NOT USE'. The tests they hold also start with 'WP'.

If you do find these then you MUST NOT make any requests using these tests. The WP DO NOT USE tests will not be sent to the pathology system, no analysis will be done and therefore no report issued.

We do have a mechanism to find Winpath tests made in error and informing the user but avoiding invalid requests in the first instance will save both clinical and patient time.

More details can be found on the intranet.

ICE Pathology roll out RBH

The ICE Pathology project is continuing at RBH. The project team is contacting wards in each phase to advise them of their go live date and IT technicians will be visiting areas in advance to ensure equipment is ready to use. If you've been allocated an ICE laptop and cart, please ensure it is available and accessible for the technicians to work on when you are advised. Wards will be given two weeks of further support from the IT specialist nurses after their go live date.

EPR training should have now been completed and ICE training must also be completed in preparation to use the system. All information about training and support can be found on the intranet.

Graphnet EPR reminders

You must have a currently active EPR account to be able to access Sunquest ICE to request Radiology and Pathology and/or take Pathology samples. If you need EPR training, as well as taught courses, you can also access eLearning via your BEAT account. Please check the intranet for details on how to load this in BEAT.

If you already have an EPR account and would like some tips to make the most of EPR go to E for EPR on the intranet A-Z and select Top tips for using EPR - video.
