UHD equipment library survey, have your say on our equipment services
Our equipment library would like to encourage all staff who borrow equipment to take part in a survey about their services. This is an opportunity to share what parts of the service could be improved and raise any positive or negative feedback. Given how important equipment is to our patients, this survey is something we should all be contributing to.

Clinical record tracking compliance audit
The health record paper notes form a critical part of the patient's pathway of care and clinical record tracking (CRT) and is an auditable part of the process monitored by national standards. There has been a sharp decline in the CRT performance across both sites and as a result we are auditing compliance.
Poole: If you require training on CRT, help or advice contact health records bureau on ext 8326.
RBH: CRT users should not overtrack/transfer a G note version unless the version shows "notes on Evolve" or "moved to destroyed". This is the only occasion you can re-use the version. Incorrect tracking may jeopardise locating notes needed urgently and wastes resources correcting the mistakes. If you require training, help or advice contact the health records bureau on ext 4739.
New adult IV fluids prescription chart across UHD from next Tuesday
The new chart includes a prescription chart for resuscitation, maintenance, electrolyte replacement and intravenous medications/infusions. There is also an additional chart for ongoing prescribing. These charts will be available to wards on an ongoing basis through the catalogue. They are forms UHD001 and UHD002.
A multi-disciplinary team from across the trust worked on this project. They included the existing good practice at both Poole and Bournemouth, as well as trying to address issues that we identified through an audit of current practice.
Some further educational and cultural work is planned for later in 2021, and we are also working on a digital fluid balance chart on eObs which we hope to pilot very soon.

Disposing of linen, cardboard and recycling
Housekeeping would like to remind everyone of the importance of using the correct procedures when disposing of linen, cardboard and recycling, as there has been an increase in non-compliance across both Poole and RBH. Ensuring these are prepared properly helps keep our working areas safer, our infection control at a high standard and helps us to ensure we are creating less un-recyclable waste across our hospitals.
If you have any questions around any of these procedures please contact the housekeeping team.

NHS Counter Fraud Authority (CFA) mandate fraud reminder
Mandate fraud is also known as payment diversion fraud, a change of bank account scam, or supplier account takeover fraud.
Mandate fraud occurs when someone contacts an NHS organisation with a request to change a direct debit, standing order or bank transfer mandate, by purporting to be from a genuine supplier that regular payments are made to. It is important we are all alert to fraud within the NHS so do read up on our counter fraud content on the staff intranet and contact the NHS CFA if you have any questions.
More information is available on the intranet.
