Staff Bulletin 22 June 2021
More resources to REFRESH infection control
The REFRESH section of the intranet has been updated to include handy, bite-sized ways we can all R-E-F-R-E-S-H our approach to infection prevention and control.
New tabs at the bottom of the page contain the latest advice on regular cleaning, ensuring good ventilation, face masks, rubbish removal and clutter, eating and drinking, social distancing and hand hygiene. You will also find a film aimed at NHS staff which explains how Covid-19 can spread, and how we can all reduce our exposure, made by NHS England.
All staff should also ensure that we are completing our twice weekly lateral flow tests, which are as important as ever as cases rise in our wider outside community.
Fly through the new emergency department at UHD
In the latest in our series of films explaining the transformation plans for our hospital sites, consultant Dr Farhad Islam explains the development plans for our new emergency department.
These developments are part of plans to make Royal Bournemouth Hospital the major centre for emergency care for east Dorset, while Poole Hospital becomes the major planned care hospital. You can watch the film here and previous films here.
Complete your health and safety assessment by next Wednesday
The Health and Safety Audit Tool (HASAT) self-assessment deadline for completion is the end of June. This is a mandatory return and managers can access the form and further information on the health and safety pages on the Poole intranet.
The purpose is to provide:
- evidence of a systematic audit in each department.
- a natural signpost towards required risk assessments, depending on department's needs.
- evidence that legal health and safety requirements are being met throughout the Trust in accordance with current legislation.
- an opportunity for audit input by Associate Operational Managers and Risk Managers if necessary.
For further support please contact your local health and safety advisor.
Support for EU staff staying in the UK
EU staff are reminded that the deadline for applications to stay in the UK is next Wednesday (30 June).
Please visit the Settled charity website if you are facing difficulties or are in need of extra support. Settled is registered to provide immigration advice.
There is also a range of support tools available and further information available on our staff intranet.
Guidance for Information Asset Register users
The newly launched UHD Information Asset Register gives information asset owners (IAOs) and administrators (IAAs) the ability to manage their Information Assets directly. However, over 75 percent of entries are still at the 'draft only' stage, without IAO approval or final information governance sign-off.
Please can all register users ensure that the entries for their live assets are reviewed, updated and IAO approved by no later than 30th June 2021. Please make sure that all screens in all sections of the system have been updated before sending to IG for review - this includes the asset, datasets, data flows and risks. Entries will be returned to the IAO where information is missing or incomplete. If IAO/IAA allocations or an asset status needs to be updated, this should be actioned by the current IAOs/IAAs directly within the system.
A new quick guide flow chart is available to help users get started and guidance and tips are available within the system itself to help with completion. You can also find the user handbook and tutorial videos on the intranet here.
