Recording employees moving within the trust

If you have a staff member moving roles within UHD, please remember not to 'terminate' them on ESR. This can lead to the staff member being placed on an emergency tax code and delays to the payment of their salary.

Before you terminate an employee on ESR please check they are not moving to another role in the trust. If they are, please do not terminate them.

If an employee is moving to another role at UHD and their start date in the role is delayed please retain them in their current role until they are ready to start in their new role. The end date for an employees' current role should be the day before their start date in their new role.

Holiday carry over from 2021

The workforce team is still working through the carry overs for annual leave. If the carry over e-form was submitted by the deadline of 31 March, this will be added to employees entitlements by 30 June.

Catch up on 'Ask Matt'

If you missed Ask Aly this month, you didn't miss out! This month's session was hosted by Dr Matt Thomas, deputy chief medical officer, and attendees heard updates on the pressures on our hospitals and Covid restrictions. Matt and colleagues also answered questions around monkeypox, the cost of living, smoking on site, and upcoming changes to our hospital catering. Thanks to all those who attended.

You can view a recording of the session, and catch up on earlier sessions through the communications section on the intranet.

Save the date for the next session: Thursday 23 June, 1pm, via Teams.

Downtime as Dorset Care Record upgraded this weekend

The Dorset Care Record (DCR) is being upgraded this Sunday (29 May) and will not be available between 10am and 3pm, therefore please ensure you are logged out of the system by 10am.

The DCR will also be paused from 3pm today (27 May) until 8am on Monday (30 June), therefore the data in DCR will not be updated between those times.

Celebrate #ThankYouDay with us

As part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations Sunday 5 June is national Thank You Day. NHS England is encouraging us all to take this opportunity to say thank you to our colleagues and to our patients across the NHS, and we're going to be saying thank you to #TeamUHD on our social media too.

We would love to see your thank you messages to each other on our social media. Simply post your message of thanks and tag in @UHD_NHS on Twitter and Instagram and @UHDTrust on Facebook and use the hashtag #ThankYouUHD.

Are you feeling lucky? Enter the staff lottery!

The staff lottery is a monthly draw giving you the chance each month to win up to £750, and £1,000 quarterly.

Lottery players can choose to have between one and five numbers at the cost of £1 per number. The numbers are allocated at random and the money is deducted directly from your wages. Currently, only staff who are paid monthly can enter.

As well as monthly prizes we have an annual lottery fund where teams can bid for money to buy goods to benefit staff. Items purchased through lottery funding this year include the brand new wheelchair friendly bench by the lake at RBH and new wall art heading to the Poole education centre.

To join and for more information visit the staff lottery page on the intranet.

Find the latest support for effective discharge of patients who are members of the Armed Forces community here.

Booking a bank holiday on eRoster and ESR

Please be aware that the bank holiday element in ESR and eRoster has changed. When recording bank holidays, they must recorded as bank holiday and not just normal annual leave. This is to ensure the employee is not overpaid the Agenda for Change average element. If you have already booked your bank holiday as holiday, you must cancel and rebook as bank holiday as soon as possible.

Help us to be considerate

Please be considerate when smoking or vaping, by using smoking shelters as smoke can be blown into windows of our hospitals and disturb patients and staff. Smoking near our hospitals can be especially dangerous around departments such as thoracic, with patients with home oxygen cylinders. Please also dispose of your cigarette litter responsibly.

Staff who'd like to quit smoking can access support from our stop smoking team – drop them a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thank you to Jenny

Join the party and say a fond farewell to Jenny House, safeguarding lead for RBH, next Tuesday (31 May) in the marquee at Bournemouth from 2-3.30pm.

RBH: contacting porters correctly

All RBH porters should be contacted by bleep on 2108. However, some staff are phoning ext. 2108 and leaving messages on the answerphone for urgent enquiries. The ext. 2108 is for Poole inpatient therapy services, not for our porters, with messages being checked irregularly.
