Extra weekday vaccination appointments now available

The last of our ‘Super Saturday' clinic days takes place tomorrow (29 October) at Poole Hospital's outpatients department. Simply drop in between 8am-3pm with your NHS ID, or book a slot using the details below.

Weekday vaccination appointments are now also available to book for those staff who have been unable to make our weekend Covid booster and flu vaccination clinics. The extra weekday appointments run throughout November and take place in our occupational health departments. These can only be booked online - please do not contact our occupational health teams. Staff may choose to have either the Covid booster, the flu vaccination, or both.

  • Book your jabs today – click here, go to the occupational health pages on the intranet or see the UHD app.

If you can't make our UHD clinics, NHS staff registered with a GP can book the Covid booster - or any of the preceding doses – for free via the national Covid-19 vaccination booking portal here, or search 'NHS Covid vaccinations' online. Please contact your GP practice to find out if you are also able to have your flu vaccination there, also free for NHS staff.

Important - please tell us if you have had either vaccination elsewhere

If you've recently been vaccinated for flu or Covid away from UHD we will not automatically be told. To help us build a more accurate picture of how protected we are as an organisation, please use this short, confidential online form to let us know.

2222 launch next Tuesday

Next Tuesday, 1 November at 8am we are changing the internal emergency response for UHD. We are replacing the emergency paging system, which is over 30 years old. The new system will give better reception at Poole, and the pagers themselves are shockproof and waterproof.

Please familiarise yourselves with the new call structure, in advance of the change next week.

This brings in standard calls across UHD for 2222 (medical, fire, and security) and 5555 (major haemorrhage transfusion support), and has been developed as part of a programme of quality improvement (Qi) to standardise and improve our response to the "deteriorating patient".

Here's a one minute video and further details will be given nearer the time. For any questions, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

EPMA update

Currently the EPMA system will not allow the ward to move forward to the next day if there are any doses outstanding from the previous day. This restriction will be removed on Monday 7 November, to allow staff to continue charting doses for patients on the ward, even in the event of uncharted doses. Wards should still keep charting up to date as part of good practice.
