Staff Bulletin 9 March 2021
Second doses of the Covid-19 vaccination
If you have tried unsuccessfully, or have not yet made your booking for your second Covid-19 vaccination dose, please do so now.
The vaccination service cannot be provided indefinitely, so please make sure you follow up your first vaccine dose by booking your second as soon as possible.
Our inpatient vaccination service continues, but will cease taking referrals from Thursday (11 March). If you have a patient you think would benefit from the first dose of the vaccine, provided at their bedside, check for more information on the intranet.
Patient screening
Please note that all inpatients should be swabbed for Covid-19 on day 0, 3 and 5. This is in line with action cards 3 and 3a on our Covid intranet.
Reminder on staff safety
Staff safety is paramount, and while incidents are rare, our security teams are reminding staff about the importance of knowing what to do when travelling to and from work, and the precautions we can all take.
- Leave the hospital site with a colleague if possible
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Report any incident to the police as soon as possible. You should also report such incidents on Datix/LERN
- Cover clothing that may identify you as NHS staff.
We work closely with the police to promote staff safety.
To discuss any security concerns or questions you may have, contact our security management team: Dave Bennett on 0300 019 3267 or This email address is being protected from spambots. POOLE: Hundreds pay respects to Krzysztof
The funeral of St Mary's maternity unit porter Krzysztof Gogolewski took place on Monday. Hundreds of colleagues, friends and members of the public gathered along Longfleet Road to remember Krzysztof as the funeral cortege paused outside Poole Hospital.
Debbie Fleming, chief executive, who gave a reading at the funeral, led by our lead chaplain, the Rev Declan McConville, said: "Krzsyztof was a much-loved and valued member of the Poole Hospital family who left a positive and lasting impression on all who met him.
"The incredible number of staff, and indeed members of the public, who gathered outside the hospital to remember him and pay their respects are a fitting tribute.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with Krzysztof's family and friends at this time."

Committee and audit leadership changes
After several years of leadership, both Dr Jason Mainwaring (pictured top) and Dr Guy Titley (pictured bottom) will be stepping down as the chairs of the Bournemouth Drugs and Therapeutics Committee and as Bournemouth Clinical Audit lead.
Both committees have been aligned as a single meeting across UHD and I am delighted to announce that Dr Munir Hussain and Dr Sue Ragab, who have been co-chairing the joint meeting, have agreed to take on these trust wide roles having held the Poole equivalent posts.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Jason and Guy for their leadership and hard work over the last few years. It is because of their efforts that the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee and audit programmes have come together so effortlessly.
- Dr Alyson O'Donnell, chief medical officer

It's also an invaluable opportunity for existing healthcare science staff to inspire the next generation of healthcare science staff by promoting the new career structures far and wide.
Look out for posts on our social media platforms over the next two weeks.
