Acquired brain injury service

The inpatient brain injury service provides rehabilitation for patients with severe brain injuries. The rehabilitation team is made up of a number of different professionals to ensure that the patients' physical, emotional and social rehabilitation needs are met.

At the Poole Brain Injury Service, patients follow a programme which is focused on their own rehabilitation goals. This gives patients the opportunity to tailor the rehabilitation process to their individual situations. The patient's rehabilitation goals are reviewed regularly in meetings with the rehabilitation team and significant family members.

Rehabilitation usually continues after discharge from hospital and is coordinated through the Community Brain Injury Service at Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
