Endometriosis

The management of endometriosis has developed significantly in recent years, with the treatments available increasing markedly in complexity. This not only requires specialists who are trained in these treatments but also complex, often very expensive equipment.

The Dorset Endometriosis Centre (DEC) provides specialist care in this area. To provide the best care to patients with endometriosis the DEC has:

• A designated weekly endometriosis clinic
• A multi-disciplinary team approach, with specialist expertise in advanced laparoscopic gynaecological and colorectal surgery, specialist pain management and specialist radiology
• Access to the latest ‘state of the art’ equipment including a high-power carbon dioxide laser and high-definition digital videoscopic equipment.

Referral to the clinic can be made by GPs using the 'choose and book' system or by referral letter from other specialists.
