Newly Diagnosed Information session

If you have been recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s you will be invited to attend an information session. The session will include input from the specialist nurse team, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, and Parkinson’s UK. The session is repeated every few months and provides an opportunity to learn more about Parkinson’s, ask questions, and meet other people who are living with the condition.

Circuit Champions group

The Therapy Team at Christchurch Day Hospital offer an 8-week programme for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The programme is designed to give you the information, advice and practical tools you need to help you manage your Parkinson’s and maintain your health and wellbeing.

Each session includes: Exercise to help with flexibility, posture, strength, coordination and balance. A warm-up and cool-down. An information session with helpful advice about managing Parkinson’s and staying well. To take part in the programme, you will need to be referred by a Parkinson’s Specialist, be able to walk independently, have your own transport to and from the hospital, and be able to commit to attending all 8 weeks of the programme.
