Plaster Room
- Poole
The plaster room is staffed Monday to Friday and provides plasters, braces and splinting to the whole hospital including the emergency department, resuscitation, outpatients as well as other wards, theatres and departments.
The core staff are all qualified Orthopaedic Practitioners holding the British Casting Certificate (BCC), formerly known as the BOA/RCN (SOTN) AOT Casting Techniques Certificate. It is the only nationally recognised qualification in the profession and is taught under the Glasgow Caledonian University. The staff are all on the register held by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and as such adhere to the BOA code of conduct.
We are happy to take on students or staff who wish to learn more about plastering (when, why and how) for a few hours or a whole day. We also run workshops and study days. If you wish to come down for a session please e-mail me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will be happy to talk to you about it.
