Health and Wellbeing videos

Health and wellbeing videos introduction for cancer patients

Our Macmillan Cancer Care Support Workers, covering different specialities, have created these videos in order to continue their health and wellbeing support for our patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Symptoms of Stress, Anxiety and Depression

We have prepared this video for cancer patients under the care of the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals to explain the impact that stress, anxiety and depression may have on a persons physical, emotional and mental health. It will help you to recognise the different symptoms of each and how they may affect you.

Managing stress and anxiety

We have prepared this video for cancer patients under the care of the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals to give you some tips and strategies on how to manage anxiety, stress and depression. Most patients will experience a degree of these emotions at some point after a cancer diagnosis and this may help you to manage them without becoming overwhelmed.

Exercise and Physical Activity

This video covers exercise and physical activity for living with and beyond cancer.

Healthy Diet

In this film our Cancer Care Support Workers outline the benefits of a healthy diet.

Cancer Services at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital

At University Hospitals Dorset (UHD), we provide excellent clinical care and support services for patients suffering from various kinds of cancer.

The cancer services multi-disciplinary teams work across the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch NHS Foundation Trust and Poole NHS Foundation Trust.

We understand that a cancer diagnosis and treatment is a difficult and worrying time. That's why we work to make your healthcare experience as simple, smooth and well-coordinated as possible.

We know that communication is especially important to our patients. So, you will be welcomed to our services by receptionists and administrative staff who are warm, friendly and sensitive to your needs.

As a patient, you need to know that your care is as good as it can be. We will aim to keep you involved and informed at every stage of your care pathway, and be committed to providing the very best treatments and technologies to care for you.

We provide comprehensive support services for patients who have been diagnosed with cancer, as well as support for their carers and families.

Throughout your treatment with us, you will receive a range of information leaflets and other materials that will help to explain the treatments and procedures that you will undergo. You will be fully supported by your clinical nurse specialist (Key Worker) and medical team who will provide you with individualized information about your treatment. Your clinical team will also advise you on the additional support available in your local area such as support groups and charities.
