Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer
The Upper Gastrointestinal Department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of all upper gastrointestinal (oesophagus, stomach, upper intestine and associated organs) disorders. We have a particular interest in the treatment and care of patients with Barrett's oesophagus, and we are a specialised unit developing the use of new endoscopic procedures for the investigation and treatment of pancreatic disease.
Many of our patients have a diagnosis of cancer and will meet various members of our large, multidisciplinary team as they progress through from first symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and beyond. We want you to feel fully supported as you receive the very best possible care throughout.
If you have a diagnosis of cancer, you will have various appointments with our specialists as we help you to plan the best treatment for your own particular circumstances. In order to coordinate this process, one of our cancer nurse specialists will become your key worker - your advice, support and information point of contact.
