Advice for parents and useful resources

Book

Illustrator Axel Scheffler, whose pictures adorn many of Julia Donaldson's books for children, has helped create a useful book for children, which explains the virus and answers some common questions.

Coronovirus: a book for children (left) is free to download here. The book was written by Elizabeth Jenner, Kate Wilson and Nia Roberts with help from consultants and headteachers.

Parents can also download a fun time capsule activity here. The time capsule notes that we are all living through history and comes up with some original ideas to help children recognise, appreciate and remember the moment for all its ups and downs.

The NSPCC has some very useful guidance on how to talk to young children about the virus

The British Psychological Society has also put together a useful guide for parents on how to talk to young children who are feeling anxious about the virus. Download it here.

Further advice for parents

The NSPCC also has some advice on working from home with children, along with how to manage when parents are separated.
