Open Day 2021 - Innovation @ UHD

Innovation is at the heart of how we provide quality care and anyone can get involved. Hosted by UHD, Dorset is one of four hubs in the UK, having recently been awarded funding by the Health Foundation to improve the adoption of innovation.

Innovation is defined as an embedded culture covering the spectrum of improvement, adaptation and adoption of existing innovations and invention.

How Healthy is Your Heart?

How Healthy is Your Heart? UHD are early adopters of HeartFlow® which estimates fractional flow reserve from coronary CT angiography (CCTA) for patients with stable, recent-onset chest pain, therefore avoiding invasive investigation and treatment. More information here:

 

Covid Oximetry at home (CO@H)

A single telehealth hub, providing Dorset with the first system-wide coordinated response to caring for people with Covid, promoting self-monitoring and escalation quickly on deterioration. See BBC South Today news video of CO@H here:

 

Prevention of cerebral palsy in preterm labour (PReCePT)

This evidence-based, cost-effective project was designed to help reduce cerebral palsy in babies through the increased antenatal administration of magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) to mothers during preterm labour. Between 4,000 and 5,000 babies are born before 30 weeks' gestation in England per year and stand to benefit from the full national roll-out of the PReCePT programme. More information here:
