Poole Pharmacy

Outpatient Pharmacy

The Outpatient Pharmacy service at Poole is provided by Boots Pharmacy, located in the dome near entrance eight on the lower ground floor.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 1pm

Boots Pharmacy provides pharmacy services to outpatients, including dispensing prescriptions for those seen in clinics and in A&E. The pharmacy also stocks a variety of over the counter items and a team of staff are available for advice about medicines or healthcare.

Bournemouth Pharmacy

The Hospital Pharmacy is situated on the ground floor of The Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) near the X-ray Department.

Please note that the Hospital Pharmacy is only available to in-patients and to out-patients for Clinical Trials with a hospital prescription. For other out-patients please see information below, the normal NHS prescription charges will apply.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday – 9.00am – 5.30pm

Thursday – 9.15am – 5.30pm

Patients Medicines

When you visit our Hospitals, please bring all your medicines with you, where possible in their original containers. When you go home the Hospital Pharmacy will return the medicines you need and supply any new treatment prescribed.

Boots Outpatient Pharmacy

Outpatient prescriptions are dispensed by the Boots Pharmacy in the main entrance at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

They will also dispense prescriptions from the Emergency Department.

Opening Times

Monday - Friday - 9am to 6pm

Saturday - 9am to 12noon

The RBH Pharmacy will continue to dispense prescriptions for:

  • Clinical Trials
  • Treatment Investigation Unit

  • Reduce the pressure on the Emergency Department as some patients will be able to go to Boots for advice from the pharmacist and buy over the counter medication if appropriate

Christchurch Pharmacy

The Hospital Pharmacy is only available to in-patients, so the pharmacy team spend most of their time on the Macmillan Unit working with patients, doctors and nurses to make sure that the appropriate medication and advice are available.

Monday – Friday: 9.00am – 1.00pm, 1.30pm – 4.30pm

For Christchurch Hospital outpatients

For medication that must be started urgently there are ready labelled packs that can be supplied from the clinics at Christchurch Hospital.

Patients can take their Christchurch outpatient prescription to Boots in the main entrance at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. It will be dispensed and they do not have to pay for parking there or

Patients can place their Christchurch outpatient prescription in the drop-box at Christchurch Hospital shown below. The prescriptions are collected twice a day and dispensed in the Boots pharmacy at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The patient can then collect their medication the following afternoon from the Boots pharmacy that they have chosen (in 18 stores).

For frail or palliative patients the prescriber can request that Boots deliver to the patient's home.
