About us

Our gastroenterology department in the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) is dedicated to the care of patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

We are a large multi-disciplinary team and hold regular meetings with gastrointestinal surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, and our palliative care team, to provide the best for our patients.

The upper gastrointestinal cancer centre for East Dorset, covering Bournemouth, Poole, Dorchester, and Salisbury, is run at RBH. The colorectal cancer centre, including the bowel cancer screening programme, is run across RBH and Poole General Hospital.

The hub of the Dorset Viral Hepatitis Network is also based at RBH, and our specialist liver nurses work across Poole Hospital, Dorset County Hospital, and His Majesty’s Prison Service, to deliver viral hepatitis treatment.
