Family Support

Our service includes family support and offers patients and their families a safe space to explore feelings and concerns. We are able to meet with patients at home, at the hospice, or we can talk over the phone or via video consultation.

We can offer help and advice for families with children and provide tailored support to meet the needs of individual children or young people. We can also advise you on and help you to access the financial support you are entitled to.

There are also some helpful books aimed specifically at helping children, which you may wish to look at.

We also offer bereavement support to family members and individual support is also provided.

The Family Support Team at the Macmillan Unit can be contacted on 0300 019 5499, but your keyworker would refer you to them. At Forest Holme Family Support services are provided by the wider team.

The Village Gym, across from Royal Bournemouth Hospital allows visitors to patients approaching end of life to use their facilities free of charge. Find out more in this video.
