Knee replacement classes

If you have had a surgical knee replacement you may be referred into the knee replacement class by your NHS physiotherapist.

To see your physiotherapist you will need a referral from your GP, consultant or via staff self referral scheme from occupational health.

The programme will consist of an evidence based exercise circuit, we use plenty of equipment and host a lively event. Classes are held weekly, a maximum of four consecutive sessions are allowed per person, remember to take things at your own pace.

Fridays at 2.30-3.45pm.

The knee rehabilitation class is held in the therapy services department gym which is located on the lower ground floor, entrance eight.

Before your first session please arrive ten minutes early to complete the questionnaire provided by your physiotherapist and bring it with you. Once you have finished your final class session you are asked to complete this questionnaire once again, the difference between your first and last scores are used by our staff to audit the class and provide information to the GP or Occupational health. The class is managed by a senior physiotherapist and run by a qualified member of staff.

In addition there is a patient satisfaction survey which is your opportunity to feedback to us.

Please report to the physiotherapy outpatients reception on arrival, then take a seat in the waiting area near the gym and you will be called into the class.

Please wear suitably loose clothing which allows exposure of your knee, and is comfortable for an active class such as trainers.

If unable to attend please let us know 0300 019 2121. If we are not informed this will go down as a ‘did not attend’. You will then be discharged and this will be corresponded to your GP.
