Our service
The radiotherapy department at University Hospital Dorset NHS Trust provides radiation treatment for a variety of conditions, including many types of cancer. We are part of the Dorset Cancer Centre which covers oncology care for the whole of Dorset.
Our UHD staff also run The Robert White Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Dorchester (RWRC) which provides radiotherapy for some categories of patient who live closer to Dorchester.
Our locations and how to find us
The main radiotherapy department is situated at Poole hospital.
Our satellite centre in Dorchester houses one radiotherapy linear accelerator treatment machine. Some radiotherapy treatment types cannot be delivered at Dorchester.
We will try to book your treatment in the closest location to your home address. In some cases you will be given radiotherapy appointments for the location which can offer you the quickest start date. This may not be the nearest department to your home.
Some types of treatment cannot be delivered at Dorchester and so you will have treatment at the Poole main department.
Planning of radiotherapy is only carried out at Poole Hospital.
