Poole Haematology
The Haematology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
When you have a haematology diagnosis (blood condition) a team of health care professionals will be involved in your care. This group of staff is called a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
The MDT meets weekly, enabling all the specialists to discuss your individual case and agree the most appropriate treatment options to offer you. Please be reassured that you will be involved in these discussions through your consultant and clinical nurse specialist team. Your views and wishes will be taken into account at all stages of your treatment/care.
Your Consultant will discuss the outcome of the meeting with you at your next appointment and together you can agree a plan of care.
If you would like a copy of the letter which is sent to your GP outlining your care plan following an appointment please ask your Consultant at the time of your appointment and it will be sent to you.
