Visiting Guidance

Maternity Visiting Guidance from 17th January 2023

The Maternity Team are pleased to update visiting arrangements and guidance for attending appointments and on inpatient wards. Our aim is to enable visiting and maintain safety for patients, babies, families and our staff.

Please do not enter the Maternity Unit if you are a visitor and have Covid or are unwell.

Labour Ward and Haven Birth Unit

  • A maximum of 2 birthing partners can accompany people in labour. This needs to be the same 2 people.
  • Facemasks are required in the birth rooms if tolerable.

Antenatal Ward,Postnatal Ward and TCU

  • 1 Birthing Partner and patient’s own children are welcome between 10am-11pm
  • Open visiting 2pm-4pm and 7pm-8pm. Maximum 2 visitors at one time
  • Facemasks are required in the ward areas if tolerable.
  • Please observe 1 metre distancing between yourselves and the neighbouring bed where possible.

Antenatal Clinic, Scans and ANDA

  • 1 partner can accompany patients at all times
  • Maintain 1 metre distancing in waiting rooms where this is possible.
  • Facemasks to be worn by patients and partner unless exempt or mask wearing is not tolerable.

Annexe and Pre-op

  • 1 partner can accompany patients at all times on the Annexe and in theatre.
  • Facemasks to be worn by partners unless exempt or not tolerable.
  • Patients own children able to visit on the Annexe in agreement with midwives once patient is well enough.
