Other breast services at UHD
Across the Trust, we offer various screening services and symptomatic clinics. Our team provide fast-track clinics in the Ladybird Breast Unit at Poole Hospital and the Jigsaw Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Surveillance Service
Both the Ladybird Breast Unit at Poole Hospital and Jigsaw Unit at Royal Bournemouth Hospital also carry out mammograms for anybody who has had breast cancer. These mammograms are carried out annually for 5 years post-treatment. They help to detect early signs of recurrence. After the 5 years, females aged 50-71 will transition into the 3-year screening programme.
Family History Assessment Service
Sometimes, having a close relative who has had breast cancer can mean you have an increasedrisk of breast cancer. GPs can refer you to the Family History Assessment Service at the static site at Poole Hospital (DBSU). If you have a higher risk, you will be offered yearly screening invites from the age of 40 until 59. Then, they will transition into the 3-year screening programme.
