Children's Dietitians Team

Providing a specialist dietetic service to children and young people from Poole, Bournemouth and the surrounding areas

We are a team of paediatric dietitians offering tailored individualised advice and treatment from birth to the age of 16. This may be on the children’s wards or in one of our outpatient clinics.

We have a wide range of specialisms within the field of paediatric dietetics such as:

  • Diabetes
  • Coeliac disease
  • Home enteral feeding
  • Allergies
  • General paediatric nutrition
  • Neonates
  • Faltering growth
  • Cystic fibrosis/respiratory
  • Paediatric oncology
  • Eating disorders
  • Complications of excess weight
  • General gastroenterology

Our aim is to promote nutritional well-being to help support optimal growth and development and overall health. We assess a child’s dietary intake, feeding habits, medical history, and growth patterns to create individualised nutrition plans to help prevent or resolve nutrition related problems.

We educate and support children, young people and their families to make informed choices, based on the best evidence available. We also work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to help patients achieve their nutrition and health goals. We are committed to delivering services that reflect the needs and experiences of children and young people.

If you require more information about the role of a Dietitian and for useful factsheets, please see the British Dietetic Association website.
