Could you join our team of UHD Health and Wellbeing Champions?

A proactive approach to supporting the health and wellbeing of Team UHD is vital. Without first taking care of our own wellbeing, we cannot look after others. As a Health and Wellbeing Champion you can play a significant role in supporting your colleagues.

We are looking for engaged and enthusiastic people who have an interest in supporting their colleagues’ mental health, have a passion for social wellbeing and inclusion and a desire to support their colleagues to be fit and healthy at work.

What does being a Health and Wellbeing Champion involve?

You will be part of a trust wide network of Health and Wellbeing Champions responsible for ensuring your colleagues’ wellbeing needs are heard. You will be involved in helping the trust form its wider approach to workforce health and wellbeing by helping at events and sharing wellbeing resources and messages.

As a minimum you will...

·         Share health and wellbeing resources with your colleagues

·         Join monthly Health and Wellbeing Champions check-ins to share best practice, discuss challenges and access support from your champion peers

·         Join biannual two hour virtual development sessions and two biannual face-to-face half-day development sessions

·         Contribute up to 5.5 hours per month of paid time to support activities contributing to the health and wellbeing of colleagues (as agreed with your line manager).

·         Have the opportunity to inform and influence UHD strategy and framework for colleague health and wellbeing

·         Help support a healthy workplace by helping to raise awareness of health and wellbeing activities

What support will be given?

Champions will be invited to attend monthly virtual Health and Wellbeing Champion check-ins, where you will be able to network with other champions across the trust, gain insight on wellbeing activity and resources, ask any questions you may have and have the opportunity to share ideas.

You will also be invited to attend biannual virtual development sessions and biannual face to face development sessions.

You will become a member of the Health and Wellbeing Champions MS Teams channel where you can access information, share ideas and keep up to date with activities.

What are the time commitments?

You are not required to provide a set number of hours, but we recommend committing up to 3.5 hours per month as a Health and Wellbeing Champion or 5.5 hours per month as a Lead Health and Wellbeing Champion paid time in agreement with your line manager.

You will not be expected to:

·         Act as a counsellor to colleagues

·         Provide support on an on-going basis to the detriment of your role within UHD

·         Be an expert and have all the answers

·         Self-finance or resource wellbeing activity
