Welcome and Aim

The Colorectal department at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of all colorectal disorders (disorders of the large bowel or colon, and rectum). We have five colorectal consultant surgeons, all of whom are trained in laparoscopic surgery, and we are proud to say that two are proficient in robotically-assisted laparoscopic surgery.

Those of our patients who have a diagnosis of cancer will meet various members of our multidisciplinary team from diagnosis and as they progress through their pathway. Our goal is that all our patients will feel fully supported as they receive the very best possible care throughout: "providing the excellent care we would expect for our own families."

Following essential investigations, you will have various appointments with our specialists as we help you to plan the best treatment for your own particular circumstances. In order to coordinate this process, one of our Colorectal Nurse Specialists (see 'Meet the Team' tab to the left) will become your key worker to assist in providing you with information, appointment coordination, support and to be a point of contact.
