Turnaround Times

Test Turnaround Times can be found on the Blood Sciences Test Guide

Most routine requests will be processed within 2 hours of receipt.

Urgent samples will be processed within 1 hour of sample receipt.

Specialist Tests:

Factor Assays: Routine within 14 days, urgent by prior arrangement.

Bone Marrow: Results within 7 days; Trephines within 14 days.

Lupus and Thrombophilia Screens: up to 42 days, depending on immunology components.

Request forms for other HLA subtypes may be obtained from the NHSBT (https://hospital.blood.co.uk/diagnostic-services)

A report will be sent from Haematology to the requestor to indicate that the specimen has been forwarded for analysis

The testing Laboratory will report the results back to the requestor via Haematology who will forward the external report

The external report will be available on Clinical Viewer and EPR

Users to be aware that the Haematology Reports from Bournemouth do not display the site of testing

Please contact the Haematology Department for the turnaround times for specialist haemostasis assays

Other haematological tests may not be completed on the day of request, or may be batched

All haematology results will be available electronically via the electronic patient record (EPR).
