Welcome to Ward 1, we are an acute medical ward specialising in gastroenterology (bowel and liver disorders).
As a team, we are led by Annie Bush.
Visiting times are 2-8pm. In exceptional circumstances visiting around these times may be accepted. Please discuss this with the nurse in charge of the ward.
We operate a protected meal time system. This means that visiting is not allowed during this time as nutrition is an important part of a patient’s recovery. If you would like someone visiting to support you during meal times, please discuss this with the nurse in charge.
Our meal times are 1-2pm and 5.30-6.30pm.

TIU is one of the few units across the UK which is led entirely by specially trained nurses, focusing on treatment and investigation of a variety of medical acute and chronic conditions. The unit objective is to prevent unnecessary admissions of patients into the hospital.
We work as a Day Case Ward, so the patients come to the unit, have their treatment or investigation done and then they can go home in the same day.
Members of our team have qualifications on non-medical prescription of treatment, and TIU nurses became the first in England to be able to prescribe blood and blood products on a non-emergency basis which was previously a medical competency only.
Monday to Friday: 7:30am-7pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8am-3pm
TIU is on Lilliput Ward, Phillip Arnold Unit, Yellow Zone
On System One, under the Red Arrow you will find the TIU referral form, please fill in the form and submit it to TIU.

As a team, we are led by ward sister Jasmine Toh.
Visiting times: 2-3pm

There are no specific visiting or meal times as patients attend the Sandbourne Suite at different times of the day. Patients are offered meals when they arrive at the suite after their operation and visitors are allowed into the post-operative bays for a very brief moment once cleared with the nurse coordinator. Patients’ average length of stay is usually between 1- 4 hours so visiting times are not required. If individual patients require input from an interpreter, this can be facilitated.
