Bournemouth Insulin Dose Adjustment Course - BIDAC (For health professionals)
BIDAC is a practical based course for health professionals who want training and support in order to set up structured education for Type 1 diabetes in their local areas. The aims of BIDAC are to provide knowledge, information, training and skills to enable health professionals to teach carbohydrate counting and insulin dose adjustment to patients with Type 1 Diabetes on multiple daily insulin therapy.
The 2 day course is held at the Village Hotel, situated next to Bournemouth Hospital. Health professionals are encouraged to attend in teams.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Defining training goals
- Essential principles of carbohydrate counting and calculation of insulin ratios
- Each meal is a learning opportunity
- Practical insulin adjustment scenarios
- Effect of exercise
- Sick day rules
- Learning theories
- Fulfilling NICE criteria
- Planning your course - timetables & lesson planning, curriculums, recruitment
- Data collection
- Psychological aspects

The cost for the 2 day programme is £440 per person which all daytime refreshments and an evening meal at the venue on Thursday evening. Accommodation is NOT included.
Please arrange and fund your own accommodation. The Village Hotel offer a corporate rate of £85 per night B & B but early booking is advisable. It is not always available as it depends on the occupancy levels at the time. You can book via the following link: https://www.village-hotels.co.uk/ and select the hotel and dates. Where it says 'promotional code', enter the rate code: RBRNH. This will then bring up the corporate rate if it is available. If it is not available it will then just give the best available rate.
Please note that invoices will be emailed to you or your employer for the full amount and this will give you ways to pay. Any cancellations within 1 month of the event will be charged in full.
